Sigma Alpha Epsilon is greatly involved with community relations through service and philanthropy. Our national charity is the Children’s Miracle Network, which fundraises for children’s healthcare across the US. Our chapter at DePaul carries on the values of the fraternity by our high contributions to the community. Last year we volunteered for the Chicago Marathon Expo in support of the runners, the Midwest Eye Bank Organization in which we helped in fundraising at their Night for Sight Gala at the Peninsula Hotel, and the St. Vincent De Paul Center for their annual homeless outreach luncheon and Fleur de Lis Gala. In regards to philanthropy, we had participants in the Kohl’s Step Up for Kids to raise over $150 for the Children’s Memorial Hospital as well as the entire chapter fundraising over $2500 for Relay for life.
We continue to strive on the values that the fraternity teaches us; not only did we volunteer for the Chicago Marathon Expo again, we have sold breast cancer awareness wristbands for breast cancer, as well as raised over fundraised while showing the film Darius Goes West; we have volunteered for DePaul Athletics’ games and events and are seen contributing to DePaul Athletics. We were invited by the Midwest Eye Bank to help run their Aviator’s Night for Sight event held at a reserved hanger at Presidential Executive Airport and we also play basketball with children through Hoops for hope.
